One Misunderstanding?

At the meeting tonight they voted to have a public hearing in two weeks on the issue in which they could continue the application or remove it.

A couple of us did have a chance to speak with some of our Council Members and I have to say that they left me very frustrated. Every time I talk to someone from the city they want to tell me about how I misunderstand the proposal and when I explain my understandings they don't have any corrections!

Perhaps the misunderstanding is that I thought we lived in a democracy, or that what our neighborhood had to say mattered. Then again maybe the misunderstanding is that what was explained to me by Gary McGinn (city lawyer) was either correct and not adequately communicated to the council or incorrect but I somehow doubt it.

Enough griping though, we still have a battle to fight.

Meeting in Two weeks

There will be a meeting in two weeks where all of us can speak about why we don't want this downzone to go through and I suggest we come in force and ready to pounce

If you want to protect your rights you better be there. Does someone know the date and time of the meeting?

Thank you! I felt the same

Thank you! I felt the same way. I was very frustrated as well.

As an observer to the whole

As an observer to the whole ordeal, I too have been very frustrated with that as well. I feel that they look down on our side, seeing us as uneducated. It makes me want to pull my hair out!Thank you for going to the meeting and representing us!

I concur. Its a case of

I concur. Its a case of general civility. All involved in this issue need to use decorum and basic social manners in any interaction. City officials must not resort to patronization when interacting with Provo residents. There shouldn't be a Mason-Dixon line here. Just adults discussing issues and treating each other with respect. That's my two cents.
